This compact blast resistant crane operator station is one of two duplicate buildings, rated for an overpressure blast force of 3 PSI at a 100 millisecond duration to withstand a 6.45 PSI reflective pressure.  Each unit shipped in two pieces, at a total weight of 13,500 pounds each.  The three sided face of the blast resistant cabins overlook two crane bays in a Chicago steel mill and serve as craneway catwalk safe houses and crane operator stations for the control of molten steel slag pots.  The detachable entry vestibules feature double-sided sliding doors to prevent access to the cabins during operation.  In addition, the cabins feature two blast resistant doors adjacent to the blast resistant observation windows.  The doors then provide access to craneway catwalks that extended from each cabin in both directions.  Complete electrical services include lighting and receptacles along the forward cabin walls to power desktop computers and crane control stations.
